Silk/Rayon Velvet, 3 Layer Screen Print, Devoré, and Natural Dye (Cloves & Spice Mix)

 

The visa page on my passport is etched into the fabric using a devoré technique, in addition to a two-layer screenprint of my Omani and US visa. These are the only two places I have lived, and both on a visa.

 

Relating to conversations on displacement and immigration; a five-yard print dyed with a spice mix recipe from home, and cloves. The recipe was given to me before I left for the US, and the cloves are a breath freshener giver to me during travel by my mother.
